I’ve read your stories a couple of times before. This morning I read five or six of them. As one to another I must say you write well in terms of choosing the “right” words and keeping your sentences lean and direct, etc. Here and there you need to rework your paragraphs. That “schizophrenic Frank with the blue eyes” story could have used one more pass. I say this, mind, as someone who often agonizes over not having refined my stuff sufficiently.
A lot of creeps out there, I also must say. Why would you agree to have a Japanese dinner with that guy who went through his whole schpiel about being in development and not having much of an IMDB history, etc., and who then tried to make out with you after walking you to your car? Isn’t desperation a fairly big turnoff and a clanging alarm bell? I’m amazed that guys are so upfront about their coarse appetites.
I guess some women feel that if a guy is blunt and unrestrained and upfront about what he wants, he’s at least being honest, and I suppose women also detect a general game-of-life component as well. If he goes right for me immediately, he’ll also go right for that job or that opportunity, and he’ll kill that mastodon and bring home the meat. Something like that? He’s not a hider. I’m much more circumspect if I’m interested. Odd. We all have our music sheets and lyrics and whatnot.
